If you're looking to save money but need a new lamp, you're in luck! We'll teach you how to turn a bottle into a lamp!

Materials

A pot, vase, bottle, jug, or other vessel
A lamp kit, or you can buy the socket and lamp cord separately.
Plaster of Paris
Putty knife
Lampshade (the width of the shade should not exceed the height of the lamp base)

Directions

Assemble the lamp kit according to the instructions. If the included threaded pipe was not pre-cut, you should cut it one inch longer than the height of your vessel. Melissa skipped this step since she opted to just get the socket and cord.

Mix the plaster of Paris if you're using the lamp kit. Using a putty knife, spread it evenly on the bottom of your vessel, and center the pipe, socket side up in the pot. You may need to hold it for several minutes and let it dry for at least one hour.

Attach the harp, shade, and finial. Add a bulb and plug it in.
